Matriz Church

This Mother Church dates from the 15th century and has a frontispiece and a tower in basalt. It is composed by three naves and a single gothic arched door.

The high altar is an admirable work of gold relief and tiles of great value.

Nossa S.ª da Paz Shrine

Located at the summit of the peak of the same name it is considered by many devoted faithful to be a Marian sanctuary.

São Pedro Church

This church was built in the 18th century over a Gothic small chapel.It has a baroque façade and valuable wood carvings in the inside.

On the façade there is a 16th century image of Saint Peter, made of stone from Ança (in Portugal).

Igreja de Santo André

It was once the convent of Santo André. This example of religious architecture dates from 1567.
It has baroque and neo-classic decorative elements. It was destroyed in 1522 by the earthquake and rebuilt afterwards.

This museum exposes local ethnographic art: pottery, tapestry, lace and artificial flowers made of feathers and fish scales.
