The municipality of Ribeira Grande is the only place in Europe where you can find tea factories and this factories are the only ones in the world to cultivate tea leaves without the use of fungicides and pesticides.

The oldest factory, "A Gorreana", exposes centenary machinery still in use.

All visitors are invited to taste the different types of tea and to explore the factory in a guided tour by the property, listening to an interesting explanation about the production of tea.

The most recent factory produces the Porto Formoso tea. Also here you will be invited to taste the tea and visit the museum inside the factory.

For different reasons, both of them deserve your visit, where you will have the opportunity to learn about this healthy beverage. Both factories are situated on the regional road that connects Ribeira Grande to Nordeste.
