The Sata Rally Azores, round seven of the 2010 IRC (Intercontinental Rally Challenge / Eurosport), was last July 15th to 17th, here in São Miguel Island. The island of São Miguel prepared to receive the 45th edition of the rally that brought such good results for the Azores in terms of promotion and pageantry last year .
The fight for first place was very hard between Juho Haninen, Bruno Magalhães and Jan Kopecky until the end, and the winner has founded near the end of the race. Haninen led the rally until the penultimate special when he had tyre problems and lost 2 minutes. Kopecky takes the lead at the entrance to the last special but one mistake putted him off the rally very near of the end. Portuguese Magalhães take advantage of these setbacks and ascends to 1st place and wins this year's Sata Rally edition. The Briton Kris Meeke toke the 2nd place and in 3rd was the Finn Juho Haninen. |
