Ponta
Delgada receivedlast October the 6th National Forest Congress, with the theme "Forests in a globalized world."
The
Congress discussed several issues related to forests, particularly in
the areas of environment and biodiversity, protection, genetic resources,
energy, municipal management, policy and rural development.
Organized by the Azores Government and Portuguese Society of Forest Sciences, brought together about two hundred scientists and regional, national and
international technicians.
The National Forest Congress (CFN) has stated it over the years, as an
opportunity for excellence for discussion of forestry issues. It is organized
by the Portuguese Society of Forest Sciences (SPCF) with a periodicity of 4
years, subject to a guiding theme.
Until now the SPCF organized five CFN: Lisbon (1986), Porto (1990), Figueira da
Foz (1994), Évora (2001) and Viseu (2005) and Ponta Delgada (2009)
