The National Forest Congress (CFN) has stated it over the years, as an opportunity for excellence for discussion of forestry issues. It is organized by the Portuguese Society of Forest Sciences (SPCF) with a periodicity of 4 years, subject to a guiding theme.
Until now the SPCF organized five CFN: Lisbon (1986), Porto (1990),  Figueira da Foz (1994),  Évora (2001) and Viseu (2005) and Ponta Delgada (2009)
